• Prof. Flora Lucas Kessy - (Director )


    Prof. Flora Lucas Kessy, a Director at Tanzanian Training Centre for International Health (TTCIH) holds  a  PhD  in  Family  and  Consumer  Economics  from  University of  Illinois  at  Urbana Champaign,  USA  (2001).  Prof. Kessy has lectured, researched and published on issues related to poverty, social sectors development and good governance. Her health systems research has focused on health financing, health governance, and access to health care. She has been involved in various policy engagement activities including drafting national poverty reduction strategies. In particular, she was the team leader for Cluster II of the National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty in Tanzania (MKUKUTA II) which is about improving the social well-being of all Tanzanians and which was drafted in light of achieving the national and sectoral policy objectives and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). She is also actively involved in the discussions on drafting the national Social Protection Framework in particular on how to achieve the health related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and thus achieve Universal Health Coverage in the country through properly designed social protection interventions.
